Bury Chess Club are saddened to hear of the death of former member Roger after a period of ill-heath

Roger was a long time club member, who enjoyed chess despite never being fantastically good at it, but he was awarded our most improved player in the season 2007/8

The service this lunchtime at Radcliffe Crematorium was indeed a celebration of his life, with the highlight for me a lovely poem written and read by his granddaughter Alisha

Roger’s favourite hymn was Count Your Blessings (which was new to me, worth a look if you don’t know it either)
