Two of 3Cs’ longest-serving players, John Bentley and Dale James, have been honoured by the world governing body for chess who have granted them the title of FIDE Candidate Master.
Both John and Dale began playing chess at 3Cs when in their younger days and were also in the squad which helped the Oldham-based club to this season’s 4NCL Division 4 Championship as well as the Manchester League A Division title for the 20th time in the club’s history.
